Bangladesh is sometimes described as country where the people are very poor, suffering and often displaced
because of flooding. While at different times and locations this may be true it is not what I have experienced.
What I have seen in the river villages is rich communal life, warm and vital people possessing a certain dignity
that permeates all life even heavy labor. Since Bangladesh is a land of a large number of boats, of all kinds, every major city has a ship repair yard and they are centers of great activity and color which I hope some of the images capture.
